What schools are available in Legacy?
Legacy is home to All Saints Catholic High School, a top choice for academics and athletics. Construction on a new Catholic K-9 school began in fall 2023, with two additional public schools (elementary and junior high) also planned. Plus, families can access a wide choice of other schools within a short drive from the Legacy neighbourhood, ensuring excellent education options.
Is it easy to get in and out of the Legacy?
Yes! There is only one set of lights in all of Legacy, and traffic circles make driving through the vibrant community smooth, safe, and efficient.
Does Legacy have public transit?
Yes! Legacy offers a bus system that transports commuters to and from the Somerset/Bridlewood LRT via a short bus ride.
Is a garage included in the pricing?
Double garages are available as an optional addition to all our laned and paired homes, ensuring you have the flexibility to customize your space for convenience and flexibility.
What is a zero-lot-line home?
A zero lot line is a type of property layout where a building is positioned directly on or very close to one side of the property boundary, with little or no setback from the lot’s edge. This design maximizes the available space, often allowing for larger homes on smaller lots.
Zero-lot lines are a great, more affordable option for losing less land to setbacks and getting more control over the footprint of your home. If you need additional indoor living space, you can allocate more of your property toward a thoughtfully designed layout that better suits your needs.
What shops and services are in the area?
Legacy has four different commercial areas, including:
- Township Shopping Centre
- Legacy Corner
- Legacy Village
- Legacy Grove
Township Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Legacy and features stores, services and restaurants such as Winners, Wine & Beyond, Starbucks, PetSmart, Dollarama, The Great Canadian Brewhouse, Spas, banks, and more.
The other commercial areas feature stores such as Tim Hortons, Legacy Veterinary Clinic, Domino’s Pizza, Legacy Montessori Academy, and so much more. Plus, Legacy offers easy access to three Costco locations within about 20 minutes.
Does Legacy have parks and pathways?
Legacy has plenty to offer for family life and active lifestyles! When complete, Legacy will feature three ponds, ten parks, and four soccer fields. It has three commercial sites and over 300 acres of protected environmental reserve. Plus, the community includes 15 kilometres of interconnected walking trails, amphitheatres, and leisure and recreation space along a beautiful escarpment.
Does Legacy have a homeowners association? If so, what are the fees?
Yes, Legacy has a homeowners association. The Legacy Residents Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to augmenting the lifestyle in Legacy. The goal is to create a home base for living rather than simply owning a home by creating an attractive atmosphere and increasing community interaction. The annual fee is $60.00. Notably, Legacy has one of Calgary’s most impressive Christmas Light Displays, due in part to the Residents Association.
How much development is left in Legacy?
Legacy, Calgary, real estate is around 70% complete, with 12 more phases left to develop. As Legacy continues to grow, opportunities to build homes will be available in both current and upcoming phases.
Can I work with my own real estate agent to buy in Legacy?
Yes! We offer a realtor participation program. When you first visit one of our showhomes, your realtor must register you in person with our Shane Homes Area Manager and complete the registration agreement. Please contact us if you have any questions about our realtor participation program!
Do you have any new homes already built in north Calgary?
At Shane Homes, we currently have quick-possession homes available in various communities. Check back often to see whether there are quick possession homes available in the community you are interested in.
How long does building a home in Legacy with Shane Homes take?
Build times will vary based on the home model and community you choose. We encourage you to ask a Shane Homes Area Manager for a timeline.
