Q: I’m considering buying a new home. What’s a good source of information for buying and maintaining the value of my new home?
A: If you’re thinking of buying a new home one of the best sources of information can be obtained directly through developer and builder websites. As well, the New Home Buyers Guide is a great source for providing information on the home-building industry.
“Another source that is growing in popularity is YouTube. This is one of the largest video sharing sites on the Internet and it is flooded with information for public viewing,” says Brenda Kasianiuk, social media, marketing and sales associate for Shane Homes and Creations by Shane Homes. “Shane Homes You Tube channel has almost 200 videos on YouTube and among our most popular videos are our showhome tours, community tours and home maintenance videos categorized as exterior, interior and basement.
“We have created this content to help people learn about Shane Homes, our communities and our model homes that are available to build. As well, we use this site as a tool to educate and inform people on how to maintain and preserve the value of their home by creating a library full of home maintenance videos.”
Among the videos that are in the Shane Homes playlist are clips of customers explaining the experience they had while building with Shane. “Some people dismiss testimonials as they think we’re only talking to customers that just have positive things to say, but we know that when building a home there are going to be hiccups due to the amount of detail and number of people involved. So we ask our customers about issues they may have had and how they were resolved,” Kasianiuk says. “That is the key, how companies handle issues when they arise, as they certainly may.
“Here, we also share our involvement the staff and Shane Homes has with the community. It’s a great tool to share how passionate we are about giving back and contributing to the communities in which we live, build, work and raise our families,” she adds.
“Buying a home is one of the most important investments you will ever make, so we try to provide information in ways that it is easy for customers to use, when and wherever it is the handiest for them.”
