We are currently recruiting for a Junior Accountant.
 
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for all bookkeeping duties required for several entities in our corporate group, so an ability to produce accurate and timely accounting records while working independently is necessary. A minimum of 3 years of full cycle accounting experience is required. Previous home building and land development experience and knowledge of Timberline/Sage 300 is considered an asset. CPA designation preferred, but not required.

 Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform full cycle bookkeeping duties for multiple entities within the corporate group including preparation of monthly reporting packages
  • Take ownership of maintenance for the permanent accounting records of assigned entities
  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with oversight of senior accounting staff
  • Conduct monthly account and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain AR and AP subledgers
  • Balance intercompany accounts
  • Issue invoices as required
  • Maintain Prepaid and capital asset continuities
  • Prepare interest calculations
  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance
  • Prepare and post journal entries as required
  • Code and post invoices for specified entities; coordinate appropriate approvals of the same
  • Assess cash management requirements and coordinate funding payments and transfers
  • Prepare GST returns, including reconciliation to general ledger and completion of reasonability analysis working papers
  • Coordinate and track payment of corporate tax instalments
  • Assist senior accountants in the preparation of joint venture financial reporting as required
  • Assist senior accountants in the maintenance of lot inventory systems
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and schedules for reporting entities as required by management
  • Complete various account working papers on a monthly basis as assigned by management
  • Participate in cross-training where required and share in the completion of duties of other accountants in their absence where required
 
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/CPA designation preferred
  • 3+ years’ bookkeeping experience
  • Previous experience in housing and land development industries preferred
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Sage/Timberline software a plus
