Human Resources Specialist (Part Time - MON-FRI morning - 25hrs/week)

Shane Homes Group of Companies, has an opportunity to join its team as a Human Resources Specialist (PART TIME). This opportunity is ideal for someone (parents) who cannot commit to a full-time schedule but are seeking employment from Monday to Friday mornings only. The ideal candidate will report to the President and the ideal candidate should enjoy working independently with a diverse set of HR responsibilities.

This position requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, flexible and reliable individual who has the ability to work in an outgoing environment while processing and managing multiple HR related duties – excluding payroll(PART TIME - Monday to Friday mornings, 25 hours per week at the Shane Homes head office)

  • Develop, implement and enforce company HR policies, procedures and programs (not excluding Recruitment and performance management)
  • Continuous improvements in reviewing company HR processes and policies and form creation/maintenance.
  • Researching training opportunities for employees and assist in implementing the company training.  (external or internal)
  • Initiate and maintain the completion by management of all employee Annual Performance Reviews
  • Manage all group plan benefits administration. Including strategies for reducing costs, improving processes and recommended changes to plan design or carriers.
  • Manage and execute the entire recruitment process.
  • Assist in terminations
  • Resolve employee relations/issues in a timely and confidential manner
  • Maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all positions
  • Maintain all employee files
  • Address queries as they relate to Employment Standards interpretation to ensure compliance

  • Preferably 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Preferably experience from mid-size companies
  • HR related designation is an asset (certificate, diploma or degree accreditation in Human Resources or relative experience; CPHR designation is an asset
  • Solid understanding of best practices, Employment Standards, human rights and federal legislation related to Human Resources
  • Strong understanding of the development and implementation of HR policy and procedures
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Knowledgeable in HR processes, both easy and complex issues and advising appropriate solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of the Employment Standards of Alberta
  • Detailed and highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excelling planning and implementation skills
  • A high level of problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion in handling confidential material and matters
  • Being a part time role, strong time management and prioritization skills is necessary in order to deal with multiple time sensitive issues; and
  • A self-starter with the ability to work in a lean, sometimes fast paced work environment
  • Receptive to change
  • Knowledge of current best practices in HR admin, salary trends etc.
  • Working knowledge of compensation principles and practices
  • Demonstrates experience in advancing or improving performance development processes
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information with integrity, discretion and cultivate trust.
  • Preference for working in a small business (under 100 employees)

Expected salary range: $42k - $48k / year
