Project Manager – Multi-Family Residential Construction

Nuovo by Shane Homes is the Multi-Family division of the Shane Homes Group of companies. Nuovo is constructing premier apartment style condominiums in communities throughout Calgary and Airdrie. The successful candidate in this challenging and rewarding position will be an enthusiastic, multi-tasked individual with excellent leadership, teamsmanship, organizational and communication skills to work in a fast pace environment. A minimum of 3-5 years Project Manager and prior Project Field experience within the multi-family apartment residential construction industry is a necessity. The successful candidate must work well with peers as well as trades and suppliers. Excellence in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project is a requirement.

Job Summary: 
Performs multifaceted daily activities related to the construction, organization, production, and quality of project(s). Directs, organizes, controls, and coordinates overall project and personnel resource activities and coordination related to execution, productivity and quality for the overall project. You are responsible for communicating and supporting the company vision, mission and guiding principles and adhering to the company’s policy and procedures. Both office and field position.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Includes, but not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with and assist the assigned Project Coordinators and Project Superintendents with all day to day duties of project construction, budgeting, production, administration and safety
  • Responsible for the effective management and organization of all construction & post-construction activities for the applicable project(s) to include but not limited to procurement, schedules and budget
  • Attend the place of the project(s), continuously provide leadership to the Project Superintendent, site teams and trade contractors in all construction matters, methods, scheduling, issues, production, safety, quality control and quality assurance
  • With the project team(s) plan and schedules key construction activities and establishes production priorities in keeping with project quality, schedules, cost factors and safety
  • Ensure milestone and deadline dates are established and enforced relative to activities and responsibilities
  • Develop scopes of work, coordinate and tender to trade contractors and suppliers as required for the project – procurement
  • Develop base project budgets, schedules and specifications – track and update same
  • Oversee all project invoicing requirements with current trade contract values and change orders for the project for accounts payable and job cost. 
Essential Requirements:
  • Completely understand and provide excellence in interpretation and knowledge of blueprints, plans, contract documents, construction methodologies, construction disciplines, building assemblies, materials, construction systems, estimating, budgeting, scheduling and familiarity with governing authority code requirements
  • Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relationships during the project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.
  • Ability to manage multiple urgent requests and rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, while assuming responsibility
  • Strong mentorship and training skills
  • Superior communication and strong writing skills are a must with the ability to represent the project team in a professional manner
  • Attention to detail in document accuracy with additional traits of patience, focus and willingness, to ensure that quality is never compromised
  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent proficiency in computer systems and software, including MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook and MS Project
  • Well versed in Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
