Cal Wenzel
Owner, President & C.E.O.
Cal Wenzel founded Shane Homes Ltd. in 1979; previous to that he held a senior management position with the Jim Pattison Group of Companies. He was also founding partner and President of Excel Homes Ltd., which specialized in the first-time home buyer market. He was also founding partner and Vice-Chair of Apex Land Corporation, a land development company involved in multi-family and institutional developments. Cal has served as President of the Calgary Region Home Builder's Association, President of the Alberta Home Builder's Association, as Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Home Builder's Association, and as a Director of the New Home Warranty Program of Alberta. He is a member of the Alberta Home Builder's Association "Hall of Fame". Outside of the industry Cal has served on numerous boards and charitable foundations. He plays a key role in the annual Willow Park Charity Classic which raises in excess of $500,000 for a variety of charities, the Kinsmen Children's Hospital Home Lotto which has raised $17,000,000 over the past 12 years, and is currently on the Ronald McDonald House fund development board. His commitment to the housing industry is to maintain the best reputation for building quality homes, to continuously improve, and to satisfy his customers. |

Shane Wenzel
Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing
The company was named after Shane when he was six years old. At age 13 he started doing various task on jobsites, and after completing his education he joined the company full-time as a Marketing Assistant. In 1994 he became Director of Marketing until 2000 when he received the appointment of Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Since 2004 he has held the position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this position he is directly responsible for all marketing, advertising, research and intelligence gathering, and technology advancement for the Shane Group of Companies. He is instrumental in leading innovation in marketing and design. |

Jim Smith
Senior Vice President of Operations
Jim has a long history in residential housing which he began in the supplier sector. He has achieved years of direct experience in the industry working first in estimating and purchasing and has worked through all facets of operations. He also spent several years as a partner/owner of his own home building company. Jim began as Purchaser/Estimator with Shane Homes in 1991. Over the years he has held the positions of Manager of Business Development, Manager of Operations and was appointed Senior Vice-President of Operations in 2004. In this position his key role is leadership in all Field Operations, Service and Warranty and Purchasing/Estimating. He has been instrumental in leading advancement in productivity and service, customer service relations, and innovation in efficiencies and best practices in construction and service with workforce development. |

Sharlene Rickett
Vice President of Corporate Relations
Sharlene joined Shane Homes in 1992 as Customer Relations Manager. Prior to working in the residential housing industry, she spent a number of years in the oil and gas industry and working for a major management consulting firm. At Shane Homes Sharlene has been instrumental in developing and implementing the best practices in Customer Relations. She was also given the additional responsibility of Manager of Human Resources and Employee Benefits. In 2004 she received an appointment to Vice President of Corporate Relations. In this position she is responsible for all internal and external corporate relations, for researching and recommending change and leading edge corporate efficiencies. She continues to direct all human resource policies and procedures, training initiatives, office management, and innovation in workforce development procedures. |

Rhonda Halyn
Vice President of Finance
Rhonda joined Shane Homes in 2002 as Controller and Manager of Accounting and Finance. She holds a designation of CMA and brings 15 years experience in key accounting and finance expertise to the company. Prior to joining Shane Homes she spent numerous years in the oil and gas industry. She received the appointment to Vice President of Finance in 2004. In this position, she leads the accounting department and is responsible for all of the financial reporting, budgeting and risk management of the Shane Group of Companies. She works closely with the company's banking and legal partners and other outside partnerships. She has been instrumental in the development of the company's overall technology strategy and in directing its implementation across the company. |

Dave Rickett
Sales & Marketing Manager
Dave has been in the residential housing industry in various capacities for over 25 years. He began working in the industry as a trade and has worked in sales for the past 18 years. He joined Shane Homes as an Area Manager in 1995 and was promoted to the position of Sales Manager in 2003. In 2004 he was appointed to the position of Sales & Marketing Manager. In this role he is directly responsible for leading and supporting the Area Managers and their sales teams in achieving the company's sales targets. He also directs them in developing positive relations with their customers by meeting their needs. He works closely with the marketing department in researching, and developing innovative advertising and marketing ideas. |

Ron Heggs
Director of Special Projects
Ron grew up in the construction industry, and has worked in the residential home building industry for over 35 years. He joined Shane Homes in 1987 as a Project Manager directing construction in the field. In 1994 he moved to the position of Operations Manager where he became responsible for all field operations, and the design of internal training programs. Ron has training and expertise in all facets of new home construction and is a graduate of the Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta as a Professional Site Manager. In 1996 he achieved the designation of Master Home Builder. He holds various other industry certifications and most recently received certification as a Moisture Control Technician. In 2005 he was appointed to the position of Director of Special Projects. His extensive construction history and knowledge allows him to take on the management of new projects for the Shane Group of Companies, and in researching and recommending innovative practices. |

Heather Saunders
Interior Design Manager
Heather joined Shane Homes in 1993 as Interior Design Coordinator following a career in automotives and oil and gas. She is a certified Interior Design Consultant and has directed the interior design department and activities for the past 10 years. She received the appointment of Interior Design Manger in 2004. In this capacity she is responsible for a team of creative designers who assist customers with exterior and interior components and colours. Another important responsibility of this department is to create visually stunning show home interiors. As the leader of her department, Heather is responsible for keeping on the leading edge of interior design which includes new product research and show home presentation. She is instrumental in ensuring Shane Homes offers the newest styles, colours and innovations in residential housing. She manages all of the operations of the Expressions Design Centre on behalf of Shane Homes. |

Lyle Faas
Drafting and Design Manager
Lyle grew up in a home where his parents designed and built their own home in the 1950's. He learned carpentry skills from his father and particularly enjoyed architectural design and drawing. He pursued this interest through High School and graduated from the Architectural Technology Program at SAIT in 1977. Prior to joining Shane Homes in 1987, he gained experience working with two other builders. Over the 18 years Lyle has been with Shane Homes he has been directly responsible for building a team of Architectural Technologists and working closely with them to implement ideas gathered through customer feedback, and from the sales and construction staff. He has been instrumental in conducting research for new product ideas through show home tours in the Calgary region and by touring show homes in the USA. Lyle works closely with the developers in all of the Shane communities to implement the particular themes of each community. Lyle has volunteered with the Calgary Regional Home Builder's Association on various committees for over 21 years. His key role as Drafting and Design Manager at Shane Homes ensures that the Shane customers have access to the most creative and innovative design in their new homes. |

Dwain Kuhn
Purchasing Manager
Dwain followed in his father's footsteps in the construction industry after graduating from High School. He completed training in Construction Technology and the Carpentry Apprenticeship Program at SAIT. Prior to joining Shane Homes as a field Project Manager, he gained 17 years of experience in commercial construction with Cana Management where he worked his way from Carpenter to Project Superintendent. Dwain was promoted to Manager of Estimating and Purchasing with Shane in 1997. His key responsibility was to manage the department. In 2005, Dwain was appointed to the position of Purchasing Manager which allows him to utilize his skills in negotiating best value at the right price, and to concentrate on identifying innovative and leading edge products and services that would differentiate Shane Homes from other builders. |

Nels Margetts
Operations Manager
Nels has been in the construction industry for 40 years. During his career, he owned and operated a plumbing company for 16 years, and following that formed and operated a new home construction company for 12 years. He joined Shane Homes in 1997 as a field Project Manager where he was responsible for managing field operations in one of Shane's locations. In 2005 Nels was appointed to the position of Operations Manager where he became responsible for day-by-day operation of the construction and service departments. He provides leadership and expertise to the Project Managers working in the field. His primary responsibility is managing logistics and new home scheduling. He also provides direction and expertise to the trades working on Shane Homes in all of the Shane communities. |

Dan Price
Controller
Dan has been with Shane Homes since October of 2004 and was promoted to the position of Controller in May of 2006. He began his accounting career in public practice in Lethbridge, focusing on small business and income tax, and in 2002 received the designation of Chartered Accountant. Dan oversees the day to day operations of the accounts payable department and is in charge of preparing the company’s internal financial reporting. Dan has also played a key role in revising and strengthening the company’s internal controls. |

Vince Janisko
Estimating Manager
Vince joined Shane Homes in 1992, bringing with him varied construction experience as well as a degree in Economics with a management focus. After spending a brief period of time in both the construction and service departments, Vince joined the estimating department in 1993 as an estimator. While in this position, Vince was instrumental in the development and implementation of estimating and purchasing management systems and software for the department. In 2005 Vince was appointed to the position of Estimating Manager – using his leadership and technical expertise to lead our team of Estimators. |
